Wuzhong-Zhongwei Intercity Railway Track Laying

At 10:58 on September 2nd,two 500-meter-long steel rails slowly fell into the track support groove at Zhongning East Station of WuZhong-ZhongWei Intercity Railway in Ningxia.It marked the official start of track laying for Ningxia's first high-speed railway,which was undertaken by the China Railway No.16 Engineering Group Tieyun Engineering Co.,Ltd..The high-speed rail dream of the people of Ningxia is one step closer.

The Wuzhong-Zhongwei Intercity Railway is the first intercity railway and the first high-speed railway in Ningxia. It is also a key part of the Ningxia intercity railway network and an important component of the national "Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals" Beijing, Huzhou, Yinzhou, and Lanzhou Greater Corridor. It is jointly funded by the People's Government of Ningxia Autonomous Region, China Railway Corporation, and China Railway Construction Corporation. It is the first railway invested and constructed by China Railway Construction using the "PPP+general contracting" integrated cooperation model. The railway has a total length of 135 kilometers and a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour. Three new stations will be built along the entire line, including Gunquan Station, Zhongning East Station, and Zhongwei South Station. In the long term, the annual transport capacity can reach 20 million passengers in one direction.

The Wuzhong-Zhongwei intercity railway has a single line track laying distance of 276.5 kilometers, and it is expected to be completed by the end of November. After that,ballasting,track leveling,unit welding and line fine-tuning were started. Joint debugging and testing began on May 1, 2018, and it was officially opened for operation on August 31. The participating employees of China Railway No.16 Engineering Group Tieyun Engineering Co.,Ltd.. will adhere to the core concept of "responsibility over ability, and will create miracles", and build the Wuzhong-Zhongwei Intercity Railway into a high-quality demonstration project that can stand historical and people's inspection.

The Wuzhong-Zhongwei Intercity Railway is located on the important economic development axis of Ningxia's "Yellow River Economic Belt". It can not only effectively alleviate the tension in existing railway transportation capacity, but also play an important role in promoting the process of "five cities in one city" in Ningxia, promoting the further development of Ningxia's "Yellow River Economic Belt", and building a fulcrum of the Silk Road Economic Belt.
